Air Charter Service provided aircraft to evacuate 10,000 people from Libya, Egypt and Tunisia during the Arab Spring uprisings, and often works with governments and relief organisations to provide aid. Operating from 13 offices with 230 staff worldwide, the Surrey company charters cargo planes, helicopters and commercial and executive jets. It has flown sports teams to matches and relocated entire businesses from Japan to Hong Kong following the tsunami. The firm was founded in 1990 by chairman Chris Leach and sales grew 37% to £227.8m in 2011.
