Alphatec aims to ensure that your cheques are paid into the correct bank accounts. The company was founded in 1996 by Grant Browning and Ted Taylor, although Taylor is no longer with the company. Alphatec’s software enables payments to be made and cheques to be cleared between different banks. With the outsourcing giant EDS as its biggest customer, and end users such as Barclays and Clydesdale Bank, the Milton Keynes company has expanded its sales 95% a year, from £430,000 in 1998 to £3.2m in 2001, when it had 42 staff.
