This Bury-based firm has installed 600 fire suppression systems protecting 13m sq ft of floor space for clients including BAE Systems, DHL, GlaxoSmithKline and Aldi. Former managing director David Smith, 45, son of founder Ted Smith, 78, decided in 2018 that further development of the firm required external resources. This resulted in a management buyout that saw Steven Nanda, 53, become chief executive, alongside a £6.6m investment from Core Capital. In 2018, the company acquired AD Sprinkler Ltd’s portfolio of service and maintenance contracts, which has helped sales grow to £19.1m this year.
