Managing director Rajiv Bhatia, 50, founded this business in 2006 to sell solar panels and related components from international manufacturers such as Suntech and REC to businesses, mainly in Britain. Sales exceeded £45m in 2012 as demand for solar panels rose. The growth in demand is largely due to the government’s feed-in tariff, launched in April 2010, which pays subsidies to those who install solar panels. However, subsidy levels were halved in April and Alternergy expects its sales growth to slow.
