The Ambassador Theatre Group operates 10 regional and 11 West End theatres, including the Donmar Warehouse, as well as a six-screen cinema complex in Woking. It has co-produced a number of shows, including Sexual Perversity in Chicago, starring Matthew Perry, and Up for Grabs starring Madonna. Shareholders in the company, which was founded in 1992, include Greg Dyke and Peter Beckwith. Growth was fuelled by the acquisition of seven venues in April 2000, and in September this year Ambassador took over the Wimbledon Theatre. Despite a fall in the number of tourists in the West End, Ambassador’s sales have grown nearly 69% a year from £9.2m in 1999 to £44.1m in 2002.
