Amplefuture’s technology may be familiar to those who tuned in to Big Brother 4 earlier this year. The company’s software allowed viewers to text comments to the programme and they were automatically streamed on to the television screen. Other applications allow mobile-phone users to download games, polyphonic ringtones, and voice-mail messages with pre-recorded greetings from celebrities such as David Beckham and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Sales at the London company grew 85% a year from £2.5m in 1999 to £16.1m in 2002.
