Joseph Marr followed his father and bought his own boat in 1870, laying the foundation of the Marr fishing fleet. Today the Andrew Marr International Group has extensive interests in international seafood trading and distribution, fishing-vessel investment and management, and temperature-controlled food storage services. The company has offices in Norway, Murmansk in Russia and Massachusetts in America, and agents around the world. The Marr family still controls the Hull-based company whose sales reached £278.3m in 2007 despite concerns over reduced fish stocks.
