Anglian Water serves more than 6m customers between the Humber and the Thames estuary. Based in Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, it also owns commercial and residential property company AWG Property. The group is owned by pension and infrastructure funds and has net debts of £6.7bn. It was taken private for £2.3bn in 2006 by Osprey Acquisitions, a consortium that includes Canadian and Australian institutional investors alongside the private-equity house 3i. Chief executive Peter Simpson, 48, oversaw 2014 sales of £1.3bn.
