Established in 1914, this suitcase, backpack and holdall maker breached its bank covenants two years ago and went into administration. Rescued by private equity firm LDC, which now owns the company, Antler has since developed its international markets by using its heritage and quintessentially British identity. Its products are designed at the company’s base in Bury, Lancashire, and sold in more than 30 countries. It is targeting future sales in Brazil, Mexico and China. Under new ownership, international sales grew 36% a year, from £6.4m in 2009 to £11.8m in 2011.
