The rise of computer viruses targeting financial and intelligence information has prompted Appsense to reposition itself as a provider of security software that disables trojans, spyware and other viruses. The company, led by chief executive Charlie Sharland, also makes software that helps systems run faster for clients such as Hewlett Packard. Headquartered in Warrington, the company recently opened offices in America, Australia and the Netherlands. Sales have grown 91% a year from an annualised £2.3m in 2003 to £8.5m in 2005.
