The publisher Archant says it is Britain’s largest family-owned regional newspaper group, with four daily papers, 75 weeklies and 75 consumer, lifestyle and contract publishing magazines. In April the company, led by chief executive John Fry, sold its eight Scottish newspapers to Johnston Press for £11m. It has also launched online classified services Jobs24, Home24 and Drive24. The Norwich firm had sales of £194.1m in 2005. It is owned by the Colman and Copeman families but many of its 2,600 employees are also shareholders.
