Norwich-based Archant says it is Britain’s largest family-owned independent regional newspaper group, with four daily papers, 85 weeklies, around 75 monthly magazines and more than 130 mainly classified websites, advertising everything from aircraft and tractors to jobs and houses. The Coleman and Copeman families who own the company share the success of the firm’s growth with many of its 2,500 employees who received about £640,000 worth of shares in the company this year under a new staff share incentive plan. Sales in 2006 reached £191m.
