Workplace safety specialist Arco was founded in 1884 and originally made tennis balls for Wimbledon. The Hull firm now sells 22,000 items of safety clothing and equipment, from high-visibility vests to heavy-duty boots. Sales reached £243.2m in 2012 under fourth-generation family member Thomas Martin and joint managing director Nicholas Hildyard.
