Sir Arnold Clark has built his network of car dealerships into one of the nation’s biggest in the five decades since he started out as a demobbed air-force mechanic buying and repairing old Morris cars. As well as selling new and used vehicles from locations across England and Scotland, Arnold Clark Automobiles offers repair and servicing, vehicle rental and insurance. Clark also owns the former racing yacht Drum, which belonged to Duran Duran star Simon Le Bon and is now used for charity fundraising events. The business, with its headquarters in Glasgow, reported sales of £2,084m in 2007.
