As one of the companies at the centre of the digital switchover due to be completed by 2012, Arqiva will be busy upgrading 1,150 transmission sites. Created when Australian bank Macquarie bought NTL’s broadcast infrastructure division for £1.3 billion in 2005, the company dominates the broadcast and transmitter market in Britain, with clients including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Classic FM. Sales at the Winchester business grew to £459.1m in 2008.
