Having recently expanded into the high-definition TV market, Arqiva is one of two main transmitter and broadcast companies in Britain. Created in 2005 when a consortium led by Macquarie, the Australian bank, bought NTL’s broadcast infrastructure arm for £1.3 billion. The Hampshire based company’s clients include ITV, Channel 4, Classic FM, the RNLI and the Metropolitan Police. In November 2006 Arqiva acquired parts of BT’s Satellite Broadcast Services business for £25m. Sales reached £361.8m in 2007.
