Founded in 1946 by Danish-born Ove Arup, this international engineering and design consultancy came to prominence in 2000 when it fixed the infamous wobble of the Millennium Bridge. Arup has worked on many other landmark projects worldwide, including the Sydney Opera House and the Pompidou Centre in Paris. The London firm had sales of £403m in 2002, when it employed 6,132 staff.
