ASCO was founded in Aberdeen in 1967. It provides logistics and supply chain management services for oil and gas rigs in the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and Canada. Following a management buy-in in 1996, ASCO has made several acquisitions, including that of one of its closest competitors, Wood Group Offshore, to expand its sales to £532m in 2001, when it had 2,000 staff.
