Customers from the North Sea to the Gulf of Mexico rely on Asco to provide support services such as freight forwarding, ship management, haulage and waste disposal for their oil and gas rigs. This has helped the Aberdeen company to build up a client base that includes the leading oil giants Exxon Mobil, BP and Shell. Chairman Claude Littner and deputy chairman Andrew Mallett were hired in 2004 to turn the company around after an unsuccessful expansion programme. They restructured the business and cut costs, shedding jobs as part of the overhaul. As a result sales rose to £416m in 2005 and profits increased fourfold to £20m.
