Tech Track 100

Javaid Aziz says Aspective is well placed to compete with large, multinational consulting companies that provide IT services to corporate clients. The former chief executive of IBM UK founded the company in 1999 by acquiring two divisions of the systems integrator Ives & Co, using £3m of venture capital from Kennet Capital and 3i. Investcorp added another £37m in 2000. The acquisitions of Oxygen Solutions in 2000 and Dataroam in 2001 have helped to expand sales 77% a year from an annualised £6.1m in 2000 to £19.2m in 2002, when the company recorded its first year of profit. With the acquisition of Dataroam, Aspective has expanded into mobile workforce management, helping companies like T-Mobile and Orange communicate with technicians in the field.
