Aurum – the company is named after the Latin word for gold – was formed in 2006 by the merger of three jewellery retailers: Goldsmiths, Watches of Switzerland and Mappin & Webb, silversmith to the Queen. The company plans to double its Mappin & Webb stores to 25 and roll out its Boutique by Goldsmiths concept. It is led by chief executive Justin Stead and backed by Landsbanki.
