As a director at Danka, the business-equipment company, Martin St Quinton says he acquired more than 50 companies in 30 countries. He left to set up Azzurri and has followed a similar buy-and-build strategy ever since, acquiring 11 companies so far in deals totalling £39m. Azzurri sells technology and communications equipment and manages networks for large companies. It recently implemented a voice-over-internet system for B&Q and consolidated the telephony for Royal Mail. Azzurri has been funded by 3i and Bank of Scotland. Its sales have grown 119% a year from an annualised £9.8m in 2001 to £46.7m in 2003.
