After their release on the big screen many Hollywood blockbusters are subsequently turned into video games. Just like the movies themselves, these need to be tested, marketed and translated to suit local markets, and such services are increasingly being outsourced to companies like Babel, which was founded in 1999. The company also makes games compatible on rival formats such as X-box and Sony Playstation. Mobile gaming is one of the largest growth areas in the industry at present, and Babel tests all the games you can play on a Vodafone handset. Its sales have grown 80% a year from £1.1m in 2001 to £3.6m in 2003.
