This Lancashire firm’s main business is recycling used printer cartridges and selling them on to 2,000 trade customers in Britain. According to Dennis Haines, who originally worked for a large ink-jet company before launching Badger in 2006, buyers can save up to 40% on a recycled product. Sales have flourished in the recession based on word-of-mouth referrals, rising 67% a year, from £2.1m in 2008 to £9.7m in 2011. The firm also sells photo paper, bottled ink and stationery.
