Founder Tony Baird’s coin-collecting hobby was the original inspiration behind this London-based company, which claims to be the largest bullion merchant in Britain. Its business is varied and includes refining scrap metal in its 30,000 sq ft premises; dealing in gold bars with the trade market; making 50,000 wedding rings a year; and selling to the public through its website. Partly thanks to the heady upswing in the prices of precious metal, sales increased by 115% a year, from £41.8m in 2007 to £417.2m in 2010.
