This family firm was founded in 1894 to produce hard-wearing, wet-weather clothing, and its traditional wax jackets are still manufactured by hand at its factory in Simonside, Tyne and Wear. The firm now has a range of more than 2,000 clothing and lifestyle products, with customers including royals and pop stars. Managing director Stephen Buck, 60, has led its international expansion to a presence in more than 40 countries.
