The Baxi Group was formed by the merger of Baxi and Newmond in 2000 in a deal backed by Candover and Electra. Baxi now claims to be the heating market leader in Britain and also has operations in France, Germany and Italy. It is reportedly expanding into Turkey and into renewable-energy systems. In 2002 it had sales of £657m and increased its operating profit to £54m. Baxi had 5,754 employees at the time.
