Tackling climate change is high on the agenda of this heating systems manufacturer, which supplies radiators, boilers and gas fires to customers all over Europe. It offers consumers a choice of green options including its new Ecogen unit, which generates power while also providing heating. The company was formed in 2000 when Candover and Electra merged Newmond and Baxi, but BC Partners took majority control in 2004 in a £633m buyout. The firm is led by group chief executive Martyn Coffey, and its sales reached £939m in 2008. Baxi says it has secured a waiver on its covenants while it negotiates a €1.7 billion merger with Dutch rival De Dietrich Remeha.
