Peterborough-based BGL arranges home insurance for 8.5m customers through its price-comparison websites, which include Comparethemarket.com. Last week it was reported that the Competition and Markets Authority is investigating the site’s pricing of home insurance. BGL also has an insurance division, which includes brands such as Beagle Street. Chief executive Matthew Donaldson, 44, is reported to have engaged JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley to prepare for a stock market listing that could value the business at up to £2bn. Its profits of £129.5m are among the highest on the league table.
