Sales for 2006 at Sir Philip Green’s Bhs stayed strong at £861m, though profits fell from £117m to £53m. The company has continued to invest to compete with rivals such as Marks & Spencer as trading conditions on the high street have grown tougher. Bhs recently acquired six stores from Littlewoods and has built four more. It is now working on plans for further expansion and on a refurbishment programme for its shops.
