BizzEnergy

BizzEnergy claims to be Britain’s largest independent supplier of electricity to businesses. Its 30,000 customers range from small and medium-sized firms to blue-chip and public-sector organisations, including Cambridge University, Nottingham City Council and Eton College. The Worcester company sources 10% of its electricity from renewable sources. Co-founded in 2000 by former Eastern Electricity chairman John Devaney, with £4m from Atlas Venture, Bizzenergy has since received a further £8.5m of venture capital from investors that include Atlas Venture. The company is led by chief executive Steve Fletcher and its sales have grown 83% a year from £17.8m in 2002 to £109.4m in 2005, though margins are tight.
