A black-swan event is a phenomenon that occurs, even though it was thought to be impossible. Black Swan Data’s technology enables its clients to predict sales and customer activity by analysing information from a variety of sources. These include social media and weather sites, as well as consumer feedback and the client’s own sales data. Clients include Disney, Vodafone, Tesco and Pepsico. Chief executive Steve King, 39, founded the consultancy in 2011 and has grown sales to £2m this year, with £9.4m forecast for 2015.
