When chairman John Bloor, 74, visited a derelict factory in 1983 that had once produced motorcycles, he was hoping to buy a building site for his Derbyshire-based Bloor Homes. He ended up buying the Leicestershire motorbike brand Triumph, which is now headed by his son Nick, 40. The bikes and buildings plus the plant hire company Pickerings make up Bloor Investments. Sales were up 17% last year on a strong housing market boosted by low interest rates. Bloor Homes is led by Adrian Bloor, 46, John’s other son.
