Mark Phillips borrowed £30,000 from his mother to set up Bluefrog in 1997. His London marketing agency now manages fundraising activities and advertising campaigns for some of Britain’s largest charities, including Oxfam, Childline and Shelter. Recent work includes a mock Big Brother campaign for Shelter, featuring two people facing real eviction and encouraging readers to text donations. The company increased sales by more than 107% a year from £793,000 in 1999 to £7.1m in 2002.
