On one day Blueprint’s co-founder Ruth Mainwaring had to act as the firm’s courier, receptionist and secretary. Fortunately, one of her first customers, Orange, was not put off by this small-company approach. The firm was set up in 1996 to supply niche marketing services to the likes of Lexus, Microsoft and Amnesty International. Sales have risen 69% a year from £1.5m in 1998 to £7.4m in 2001, when the London company had 30 staff.
