In 1995, Richard Latham designed a website and wrote at the end: “If you want a website like this one, ring this number.” He was surprised to get calls from several blue-chip companies. Customers of his firm, Bluewave, now include Citigroup, Exxon Mobil and Volkswagen. It has boosted sales 84% a year, from £1m in 1998 to £3.6m in 2000.
This month the Danish company Maersk took a 51% stake in the firm.
