bmi

It has been an exciting year for Derbyshire-based BMI, with sales in 2006 soaring to £905m amid speculation that the slots it owns at Heathrow could make it an attractive takeover target for rival carriers. Chairman Sir Michael Bishop bought out longstanding partners John Wolfe and Stuart Bamford and holds a controlling stake, with the airlines Lufthansa and SAS holding the rest of the equity. Bishop runs the business alongside chief executive Nigel Turner.
