Bon Marché

This firm has carved out a niche by targeting women over 45 in high streets across Britain. Founded by brothers Gurchait and Gurnaik Chima in 1982, Huddersfield-based Bon Marché now has more than 250 stores. Profits have grown 86% a year from £2.5m in 1999 to an annualised £16.4m in 2002. In July 2002 the Peacock Group bought the company for £51m.
