This Hemel Hempstead group claims to be Britain’s biggest holiday operator, entertaining more than 3m visitors a year. It owns three brands: Butlins, Haven and Warner Leisure. Bourne Leisure was founded 47 years ago with one small caravan park, and now has 34 around the British coast under the Haven brand. Warner Leisure offers adults-only activity breaks at its 13 hotels while the three Butlins seaside resorts at Skegness, Minehead and Bognor Regis are celebrating their 75th birthday this year. Bourne Leisure is owned by the Harris, Cook and Allen families and chaired by Peter Harris. As many Britons opted to holiday at home during the recession, sales reached £803m in 2010.
