This Derbyshire group comprises 27 companies selling services to the construction sector, from specialist subcontracting to the design and completion of whole projects. It recently won a £60m contract to rebuild Warner Brothers studios at Leavesden, Hertfordshire, where the Harry Potter series was filmed, and a £90m deal to build Center Parcs’ fifth site at Woburn Forest in Bedfordshire. The company has also been involved in St George’s Park, the FA’s new National Football Centre due to open in July. Chaired by the founder’s grandson, John Kirkland, the group improved sales by 6% to £708m in 2011.
