Bradgate Containers has built a business out of finding imaginative uses for new and discarded shipping containers, converting them into noise control units for industrial uses. Benefiting from a raft of recent EU environmental legislation, particularly that governing noise levels, the Leicestershire company has won clients worldwide. It has supplied anything from containerised studios for army radio during the Gulf War to container-based equipment for use in car washes. By adding value to cheap containers, Bradgate has achieved 43% pa profit growth from £1m in 1995 to £3m in 1998. Sales rose 18% pa in the same period to £14.2m.
