Six thousand beer fans came to the annual meeting of Scotland’s largest independent brewery in April. It has 53,000 “equity punk” investors, having raised £19m in the UK, and in August it launched an appeal to raise £50m for its new brewhouse in Columbus, Ohio. It has opened nearly 50 bars as far afield as Brazil and Japan, and it exports craft beer, including its top-selling Punk IPA, to more than 60 countries. The company is led by co-founders James Watt and Martin Dickie, both 34.
