Britax has made a name for itself focusing on child car safety products, with group brands including Römer and Safe n Sound. Its newest offering is a baby sleeper seat that safely allows babies to lie flat during car journeys. Founded more than 70 years ago, it distributes to retailers in 40 countries. Formerly part of Britax International, in 2005 the Carlyle Group acquired the company in a £230m buyout deal. Under chief executive Karl Kahofer sales in 2008 hit £183.3m.
