First used as an airfield during the Second World War, Bruntingthorpe was transformed into a high-performance testing centre by Chrysler in the 1970s. The Walton family acquired it in 1983 and the Leicestershire group is now led by managing director David Walton, 65. Its services include vehicle storage and refurbishment, corporate hospitality and testing. New contract wins and increased custom from existing clients helped profits race to £5.2m in 2015.
