This Huddersfield firm created more than 100 new jobs last year by selling consumer goods via websites such as Appliances Direct and Laptops Direct, as well as Better Bathrooms, bought out of administration in 2019. It is led by managing director Nick Glynne, 55, who built the business from a computer retailer he acquired for £3,000 in 1999. In 2019, BGF invested £10 million, and in the year to March 2020 sales grew 19 per cent to £295 million and margins rose, helped by improved operations, expanded refurbishment and recycling operations and economies of scale, taking profits to £8.4 million. The aim is to double the size of the business in the next five years.
