Employees of Coca-Cola, Siemens and the RAC are among those who use Bybox’s network of 10 British distribution centres and 18,000 drop boxes at petrol stations and supermarkets nationwide. Packages are delivered to the lockers, which are then accessed by users through a keypad or barcode reader. The company, founded by Stuart Miller and Dan Turner in 2000, launched a consumer box service in France last year, which has helped to boost sales 43% a year from £8.4m in 2004 to an annualised £24.3m in 2007.
