Chief executive Tom Byng, 45, founded this gourmet burger group in 2007 with the aim of bringing American-style hamburgers to Britain. Since then, Byron has differentiated itself through its individually styled branches, and by serving unusual specials such as a rarebit burger. The company was acquired by Hutton Collins Partners from the Gondola Group in 2013 for £100m, and sales reached £55.2m in 2014. This year it launched a partnership with the charity One Feeds Two, committing 25p from every special sold to buy a school meal for a child in impoverished regions of the world. The company has 55 branches and intends to open up to 15 new ones a year. Former Virgin Group chief executive Stephen Murphy, 59, is chairman.
