Aiming to combine luxury and informality, this hotelier owns two country-house hotels in the Cotswolds. The first is Calcot Manor, a 35-room hotel in Tetbury, which offers two restaurants, conference and spa facilities for guests and local members. The second is Barnsley House, a late 17th-century Grade 2 listed property, acquired in 2009. This is an 18-bedroom retreat near Cirencester, opposite which is The Village Pub, owned by the same company. Founded in 1985 by the current managing director, Richard Ball, and his family, the business was purchased by the Stone family in 1996. Portfolio expansion has contributed to sales growth of 50% a year, from £3.2m in 2007 to £10.8m in 2010.
