Cammell Laird

This company was founded as Northwestern Shiprepairers and Shipbuilders in 2001 by John Syvret, the chief executive. It was renamed in November 2008, bringing the historic Cammell Laird brand back to Merseyside after a seven-year absence. The company refits, repairs, converts and builds ships for both military customers, such as the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, and commercial operators including James Fisher and Seatruck Ferries. Profits have grown 77% a year from £1.7m in 2006 to £9.5m in 2009, partly boosted by a large contract with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.

This profile reflects the company at time of publication and does not reflect any changes that may have subsequently occurred. Fast Track and its sponsors do not endorse, guarantee or recommend investment in any of the companies.
