Some companies run up to 15,000 applications at a time but give little thought to whether they are all doing a useful job. Founded in 1999, Camwood audits, streamlines and optimises applications for clients such as BAE Systems and HM Revenue & Customs, promoting what it calls “corporate hygiene”. Sales grew 52% a year from £3.8m in 2008 to £13.3m in 2011 under chief executive Frank Foxall. The firm has offices in London and Manchester and aims to open one in New York by the end of the year. It recently demerged its software department into a separate company, App-DNA.
